Space Blaster

2D Top Down Shooter made with assets from Michigan State University. My goal was to create an arcade like shooter that challenges the player with increasing difficultly. The player has to shoot at enemies will avoiding their hoards. I designed the game to test the player's skill in precise movement and grit. I received positive feedback from the game, that is was quite challenging, but fun to overcome.

Level 1 is intended to introduce the mechanics and enemies of the game slowly. With enemies slowly chasing the player and stationary enemies placed strategically throughout the map.

Level 2 & 3 increased the difficultly by having stationary enemies placed in a strategic pattern and more hordes of enemies. To give the player an increased sense of progression, the fire rate is increased each level.

 

Level 4 is a boss fight, with one main Mothership and two battleships on either side accompanied by enemies shooting at you from the sides of the level.
